Spending quality time with family is so important, but it can be tricky to find something that everyone will enjoy, as well as keeping the kids interested – especially the older ones! Here are some fun activities for the holidays or the weekend that are bound to keep all the family happy and let you have some proper time together.
Barbecue
If you look out of the window to blue skies and warm sun, why not have a barbecue? This is a great way to tempt anyone, young or old, and means you can all spend some time chatting and enjoying the weather. Put on some fun, summer tunes through the speakers, grill some burgers, and take a seat on a comfy garden chair (if you’re looking to really glam up your garden, some outdoor cushion covers will look fabulous and keep you snug). Whilst you’re chomping on your delicious food (who doesn’t love barbecue?), you’ll get the chance to really talk and spend time as a family. A perfect, stress-free option!
Geocaching
Geocaching is something not many people have heard of, but it can be a really fun activity to do as a family and encourages everyone to be a bit more active too! Geocaching is, in a nutshell, treasure hunting – all you need to do is download the app and use it to navigate and find out where the hidden treasure is. This is especially exciting for the kids, and there’s a lot of mystery and excitement as to what you will find. It also builds the bonds you have with each other, as you all must work as a team to complete the hunt. Fun for all!
Board Games
Board games are a great way for you and your family to spend countless hours of fun together – if you have any, then you’re a step ahead. If not, we recommend games like Monopoly, Operation and Ludo. Playing board games together teaches your kids skills (even Monopoly will give them experience counting and using money), as well as bringing out their (and most likely your) competitive side! Who doesn’t love the satisfaction of being the ultimate winner, after all? And, with so many board games on offer, it’s impossible to get bored, meaning you always have new ways to entertain the family and spend time together.
Mini Golf
Mini golf is an exciting way to switch up a normal day and is fun for all the family! There are courses scattered across the US, meaning you’ll never be short of finding one to test out your golf skills. There are usually lots of holes, meaning you can dedicate a good amount of time during a day to playing, getting your family out and about for the day. You could even bring a picnic! It can be fun to go in teams for mini golf – adults against kids is a strong favorite in many households, even if the kids do usually win.
