Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted at That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week you compile a list of ten books that coincide with that week’s theme. You can find everything you need to know about joining here!
This week’s theme is all about the books on our summer TBR!
Looking back at my Summer reading plan, I feel I went a little off-track. I read a lot this summer, just not too many from my planned book list. The only ones I read from my list were These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong and The Porpoise by Mark Haddon – both delightful. I am still on Violeta by Isabel Allende, which is nice, but has yet to get into the can’t stop reading stage.
Now prepping for my fall TBR and here goes!
- The Burning Girls by C.J. Tudor is part of my RIP reading challenge this year, and I am looking forward to a good dose of horror, maybe even paranormal?
- The Chalk Man by C.J. Tudor – My librarian suggested this book when I checked out The Burning Girls. According to him, this is an even better book.
- A Sliver of Darkness by C.J. Tudor – Ten bone-chilling and mind-numbing short stories that was again recommended very highly. Yes, I will be on a C.J. Tudor streak this fall.
- Girl A by Abigail Dean – I have pushed this from my summer TBR into fall and maybe winter. I want to read this, but am worried it will be a bit too disturbing after three back-to-back horror books. Let’s see.
- The Cider House Rules by John Irving – This book has been sitting unread on my shelf for too long, and I am feeling a fat, leisurely, chunkster at the moment. I also loved the movie, and am hoping the book is better.
- Her Husband’s Mistake by Sheila O’Flanagan – Chick-lit to lighten up my reading a bit.
- The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi – I have heard rave reviews of this trilogy from my friends.
- Piranesi by Susanna Clarke – I put off reading this book for the longest time, because I was a little meh about her first book Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. But, Piranesi seems quite different in tone, and it is a short read. So, hopefully, this works for me.
- My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh – Just because I like the cover, and I also long for a year of extended hibernation.
- The Dutch House by Ann Patchett – I recently stumbled upon the audiobook that’s narrated by Tom Hanks. So, I might just probably listen to this book vs. reading it.
What books do you have on your fall TBR? Which books on my TBR would you recommend I read first? Any books you suggest I drop?
I hope you enjoy all of these when you get the chance to read them.

At least you read a few books from your last seasonal TBR list. I doubt I read any. Oh well. I love making these lists, even if I never read anything from them. Enjoy what you do read!
Happy TTT!

hahaha! I know for me definitely, these lists are more like wishful thinking 🙂
Fun to see John Irving pop up from my teen/young adult years! Piranesi shocked me by how much I liked it. I hope you do, too.
I just realized this book is so out of place among the rest on my list.
So what? Read what you want!!! Don’t let best seller lists or what’s popular on Bookstagram or book blogs dictate to you! John Irviing can write!
this will be my first John Irving book. Looking forward to it!
If you like feminist classics move on to The World According to Garp
These look like fun fall reads. Hope you love them!
I really want to read The Henna Artist at some point soon!
Me too! It’s set in my favorite place in India, Jaipur!
I enjoyed Piranesi and The Dutch House, but I haven’t read any of the other books on your list. Piranesi is completely different to Jonathan Strange!
The Cider House Rules was really good. Hope you like it.
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.
I have high hopes from it. I loved the movie.
I’m curious about Piranesi, too!
