Top ten tuesday

This week’s theme is all about the books on our winter TBR!

Looking back at my Fall reading plan, I feel I have done just about ok. I started strong by reading The Burning Girls and The Chalk Man by C.J. Tudor back to back. I then went completely off-track before coming back to this list with The Cider House Rules by John Irving. It’s a long and somewhat slow, meandering book resulting in me not even getting started on the others.

Now prepping for my winter TBR and here goes!

My Winter Reading List
  1. Of Human Bondage by W. Somerset Maugham – I always like to end the year on a classic, I love Maugham’s short stories, so this novella was an easy addition to my list.
  2. The Vegetarian by Han Kang – Another slim novella to ease into my 2024 reading.
  3. How Money Works: The Facts Visually Explained by Beverly Blair Harzog and others – I hope to start the year strong with some non-fiction. I have been delving deep into the stock market this year, and while I think I have a general understanding of how it all works, this book that simply explains the economics, minus the jargon, promises to be an informative read.
  4. The Perfect Girlfriend by Karen Hamilton – A light thriller, my favorite genre.
  5. Ikigai by Yukari Mitsuhashi – My daughter read this and raved about it. I think this will help kickstart my year on a good note. Plus, I can include it for the Japanese Literature reading challenge, which I participate in every year.
  6. Pachinko by Min Jin Lee – This historical fiction set in Japan is another book on my TBR list.
  7. Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi – I am looking forward to this short but intriguing read about time travel. If you had an opportunity to travel to the past, would you? I think I would.
  8. Piranesi by Susanna Clarke – This was part of my Fall reading list, but couldn’t get to it. I”ll be sure to get to it by January.
  9. Kaizen: The Japanese Method for Transforming Habits, One Small Step at a Time by Sarah Harvey – And yet another Japanese non-fiction. I am not sure I”ll get to this one, but reading Atomic Habits late in 2022 was a game-changer for me this year, and I am hoping for more life hacks this year as well.
  10. Fast Like a Girl by Mindy Pelz – The kilos have been piling on this year, and despite numerous attempts at intermittent fasting, the weight has just kept increasing. I hope this book gives me some tips on how to get better at eating and fasting.

What books do you have on your winter TBR? Which books on my TBR would you recommend I read first? Any books you suggest I drop?

Ha ha. I don’t know how anyone gets all the books on their TBR list read without being distracted by others. I’m terrible at that, but I still enjoy making these lists. I hope you enjoy all these.

    Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
