In Honor of A.A.Milne

January 18 was A.A.Milne’s birthday and co-incidentally (or not), I received an email from a company called The Collectionary asking me whether I would be interested in talking about their collection of memorabilia.

In their words:

The Collectionary was built because we wanted to create a Dictionary of everything in the world that people collect.

There are hundreds of e-commerce sites, but there is no dedicated place where you can learn about different items.

Whether it’s the history, facts, or unique attributes about a particular collectible or item, we want to give people a place to learn about the collectibles they love.

I went through their website and stumbled across the sweetest Winnie the Pooh memorabilia that I was just drooling all over my keyboard. Remember I am such a big fan of the books and the characters that I have nicknamed my son Piglet.

Some of the items I liked
Some of the items I liked

I know these items will probably look super-cheesy to a lot of people. But Winnie the Pooh was my childhood love and I have never quite outgrown it. I tried to share my enthusiasm with Snubnose but she just can’t understand how I love characters like Winnie the Pooh and Piglet and Eeyore far more than Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty or Ariel.

Sigh! Will probably wait for Piglet to grow a bit more and see if he sees the same charm in them.

Disclosure

I did not receive any compensation from The Collectionary. They emailed me a standard press release and asked me to post it. But I just couldn’t help getting enthusiastic over their collections that I threw away the document and just wrote down my honest thoughts.

Btw, they also have quite a nice collection for Alice in Wonderland lovers. So, if you are interested, do check out their site.

@veens:disqus Maybe it’s a generational thing? Sad, because I thought these were classics.

Yes… The new generation is really driven by media. Seriously! Aarya loves all the characters who fight and transform and stuff like that. Very sad.

I like Winnie the Pooh but perhaps not love love — I didn’t read the books until I was probably ten or eleven, so I think I missed the window a little. But those Collectionary items are super cute!

@Jenny@Reading the End Yeah, I think by eleven the charm of these animals would have worn off a bit.

How can anyone not love Winnie the Pooh? Piglet was always my favorite.

    1. says: Nishita

@bermudaonion_kathy:disqus Unfortunately my daughter doesn’t 🙁 I tried so hard to sell these books to her but while she reads them, she doesn’t get my love for them. I struggle to understand her obsession with Rapunzel and the like. Oh well!
