Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted at That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week you compile a list of ten books that coincide with that week’s theme. You can find everything you need to know about joining here!
This week’s theme is all about the books on our summer TBR!
Looking back at my Winter reading plan, I feel quite happy. I read and loved The Greatest Urdu Stories Ever Told. Certain Dark Things was enjoyable as well. I found The Hunting Party to be an average (good but forgettable) read. And the first two Sandman comics were glorious. I am in the middle of the third book now (Dream Country), and it feels like I am in another world entirely. Gaiman and the illustrators who worked on this series are absolute geniuses!
Now prepping for my summer TBR and here goes!
- These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong – I am really attracted to these dark, beautiful covers ATM. Plus, it is a modern-day gangland Romeo and Juliet story set in Shanghai. Definitely going on my TBR list.
- Don Quixote by Miguel Cervantes – I know it’s summer, and this is usually light reading time, but it’s monsoon where I live, so Don Quixote is probably right for this weather. That said, this will be a long, slow read, and I know I will finish this chunkster only by year-end.
- Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi – I am trying to diversify my reading a bit, and Gyasi is a new (to me) author I am excited to try.
- Girl A by Abigail Dean – Quintessential mystery/thriller. I hope it will quench my Gillian Flynn cravings.
- Anxious People by Fredrik Backman – I saw this in the library, and it reminded me how much I liked Beartown. I think this one will be just as good.
- Pachinko by Min Jin Lee – I originally bought this book for the end-of-the-year Japanese literature reading challenge but so many people have been urging me to read it, I will probably try it sooner.
- Circe by Madeline Miller – This was on my Spring TBR list. I took it with me to Greece, thinking it would make a nice read while on vacation, but honestly, I couldn’t focus much, and so it’s slipped to summer.
- Batman: The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller – Because I love the Sandman comics so much, I’d like to explore more from this genre.
- The Porpoise by Mark Haddon – Another random library browse. This book piqued my interest just because the blurb is so random. I am not giving any more hints. Check it out on GoodReads.
- Violeta by Isabel Allende – Another book that I picked just because of the beautiful cover.
What books do you have on your Summer TBR? Which books on my TBR would you recommend I read first? Any books you suggest I drop?
I’m excited for Anxious People too! I hope we both like it.
Fingers crossed 🤞
Great list! I hope you enjoy Circe, I really enjoyed it when I read it a few years ago.
I hope you enjoy all of these! I read Circe a few years back and thought it was great 🙂

I read The Song of Achilles earlier this year and loved it. I have heard Circe is even better. Looking forward to it!
I have read both and definitely preferred Circe!
I really enjoyed Circe when I read it, so I hope you do too.

I haven’t read a single one of your TBR list, but they look good! My summer TBR is to read down some of the books I own but haven’t read yet — I feel it’s a good time for it, as the library won’t be getting in as many new books and there won’t be as many new books publishing, so hopefully I can be motivated to read these books that I WANTED ENOUGH TO BUY hahahaha.
Yes! Same here! Most of the books on my list are impulse buys. I have no choice but to read them as my library doesn’t have much new stock coming in.
ANXIOUS PEOPLE is a really good one! It’s confusing at first, but once you get into it, it’s just a delightful read all around. I hope you love it and all these others.
Happy TTT!

I hope to love it! I thought Beartown was lovely, and I hope this one lives up to my quite high expectations.
Anxious People was so good! I hope you love it.
Violeta is on my list of holds currently! Hope it’s good. And the cover is lovely.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
It is such a lovely cover! I am not convinced about the story, but the cover sold me.
I’ve heard such good things about Anxious People.
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.
I loved Pachinko. It is still in my Top 5 favorite Books.
