How to Upgrade Your Home Furnishing

There is always a solution if you find parts of your home tired, boring, or outdated. Renovating is expensive and can be a big undertaking, so if you aren’t ready for a commitment like that, either time-wise or financially, you can upgrade parts of your home or add furnishings and decor to renew your love for your space. After all, your home is supposed to be your sanctuary and your happy place, full of personality and a warm, inviting feeling. If it doesn’t speak to you that way, it’s time for a change.

Paint your walls

One of the easiest ways to instantly upgrade your decor is by simply giving your walls a fresh coat of paint. No matter which room, a new wall color is sure to bring new life into the space and give it a much-needed refresh.

Living rooms are a good place to start. You can choose to paint the entire room, or if the walls are already a neutral color that can stand the test of time, considering painting an accent wall with a bold color for some excitement. Try and match that color with any pieces of decor you already have, like a rug, your throw pillows, or art on the walls.

Painted kitchens are classic and timeless, but add a distinct pop of personality and color to the room. You most likely spend the most time in your kitchen of all the rooms in your home, so you should make sure it’s a room you want to spend your time in. Get creative with accent colors for something fun and vibrant, or tone it down with neutrals for a timeless style.

As for your bedroom or other bedrooms in the house, of course you can branch out and choose any color, but it’s a good idea to keep the colors muted since it’s a room of rest and relaxation. You could also play with wallpaper patterns here if you are so inclined.

Add natural materials

There’s nothing like natural materials to make your home look elegant, classy and timeless. Thankfully you can achieve these natural and classic looks without fully renovating your home. You could add granite or marble countertops to your kitchen counters or bathroom counters for an earthy yet luxurious feel in those rooms. Another simpler idea is to replace the knobs on your counter drawers and cabinets, updating them for modern styles, but choosing a natural finish.

Your living room could benefit from natural materials as well. You can add in some wooden accents, like an upgraded, new turned timber balustrade on your staircase, or wooden legs on your couch. Buying new isn’t necessary when you can upcycle what you already have and make it feel like new again.

Replace knick knacks

If you have various knick knacks around the house, you can easily upgrade the feel of your decor by swapping those out for seasons dictate. It’s a little decor idea that goes a long way, for both your budget and your mind. You don’t have to spend big on new furnishings, since they’re small decorative pieces, but adding something new to the space—no matter how small—can get you excited.
