Nevermind

It’s not often that I am wholly charmed beyond measure by the decor of a restaurant.

Most restaurants these days tend to favor open spaces with standard vanilla decor elements – easy to set up and easy to pull down if a restaurant goes belly-up.

So, when I walked into Nevermind in Indra Nagar, I loved its small cozy spaces. It’s the kind of decor that’s perfect for family parties, nights out with friends, corporate team lunches, and gossipy drink-laden sessions with friends – where no one outside of the group can hear indiscreetly spilled out secrets.

I went with a friend to try out this place last weekend, and we had a great time catching up after ages on all the gossip in town. Nevermind was the perfect location for long afternoon booze + lunch session.

Our cozy little corner

Now, I have been dry all January. It was one of my resolutions to not have any alcohol at all this month. But I’m glad I broke my resolution for this occasion.

The drinks served were top-notch. We ordered:

  • The Flint
  • Jaggery Mojito (my order and I recommend it highly)
  • Hot toddy (for the sick one among us)
  • Rose and cucumber gin and tonic cocktail
  • Smoking pink downfall

The prettiest drink was the Smoking Pink Downfall – this was a vodka-based drink mixed with tender coconut water, lime and cranberry juice, and a touch of thyme and sugar syrup.

The Smoking Pink Downfall is a must-try drink.

We ordered the most delicious Tom Kha soup I have ever had to accompany the drinks. This rich Thai coconut-based soup was creamy, not too spicy, and with lots of veggies; it was just how I like my soup.

Delicious Tom Kha soup – just perfect for a chilly winter day

With soup, we tried some starters. We had a bunch of different starters served to us:

Veg starters

  • Multani paneer tikka
  • Hed Phad Medmamauang -Stir-fried mushrooms with cashew nuts
  • Mixed vegetable Chow Chow

Non-veg starters

  • Crispy Bacon-wrapped prawns in honey garlic sauce
  • Thai Coconut crumb Prawn
  • Slow-cooked Honey Chilli Pork
  • Filipino Crispy Shrimp Tempura
  • Sweet Scallop with Creamy Cauliflower
  • Chicken Dumpling

Being a vegetarian, I tried the dumplings and the stir-fried mushrooms, and I was in LOVE! Additionally, we ordered some baos. Snubnose was with us, and she just quietly inhaled multiple helpings of the Korean Beef Bao while I tried the Gua Bao with Mushroom. The main course was another delight. I had Asian Green Fried Rice with Kimchi sauce and a Thai Jungle Curry. It feels like I am being a bit repetitive with my praise, but seriously, everything I tasted was so good!

Last but not least were the desserts. By this time, we were groaning. We were so full. But I can never say no to a good dessert, and going by the high quality of the previous dishes; I wanted to check out how the desserts fared.

Enter the JD Mud pie and Banoffee Cheesecake.

I never thought I’d say this, but I preferred the Banoffee cheesecake to the mud pie. I’m a huge chocoholic, but the Banoffee cheesecake was so excellent that I left the mud pie and just feasted on this.

Overall, one of the best meals I have had in ages. Decor, food, and service all get five stars from me.

Note: We tried their Pan Asian food, but this is not just a Pan Asian restaurant. They have Modern Indian and World Cuisine as well. Check out their Zomato page for the complete menu.
