This is such a beautifully written book with some lovely quotes, it’s hard to choose just one to feature on this blog but I loved how one particular protagonist voices her regret at not having treated her mother’s foibles with compassion.
J’aurais dû être plus gentille—I should have been more kind. That is something a person will never regret. You will never say to yourself when you are old, Ah, I wish I was not good to that person. You will never think that.
~ And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini
I think this is so true, don’t you? You never regret a kindness.
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
I really liked some of the quotes from thsi book. But still I felt this book was not as good as Kite Runner was.
@Avada@ashcerebrations Kite Runner is actually my least favorite book :), I liked Thousand Splendid Suns best followed by this one.
What a brilliant quote you have chosen for your teaser. I loved The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns but I haven’t read this one…. yet!
@disqus_mUBrEiIQ5D:disqus This is just as good as the others. Really liked this one too
That is a great philosophy!! I try to be kind as much as I can! Thanks for sharing.

Oh, that is an excellent quote (although I personally can think of one person I will always wish I was meaner to).
@disqus_neEAd4i9jn:disqus haha. We all have that one person I think 🙂
I’m going to read this soon! I finished reading The Kite Runner today and I loved it. My first book from Khaled Hosseini was A Thousand Splendid Suns, which I loved too.
@fiveeyedbookworm:disqus I think you will like this one too 🙂
Can’t agree. Sometimes people take advantage of your kindness and are ungrateful and evil!

@Udita:disqus yeah, that’s true. But I don’t know that I regret being nice to them. I may feel bad about their reaction, but also good if I know that I didn’t drop down to their level….if you get what I mean?
