Yes, this blog post is a few days late in coming, but I got quite enthusiastic about this piece of news for two major reasons:
- She’s one of the few female authors to receive this award. If you go over the award winners list, it’s shocking just how few female authors are on there.
- She’s one of the few Nobel prize winning authors that I have actually read. I loved her collection of short stories Dear Life that I read earlier this year, and I can happily state that her writing is both accessible yet literary.
Great choice!
It’s amazing to see a woman win the award again as you say! A fascinatingly accomplished writer, very much well deserved.
