Welcome to Mailbox Monday, a meme started by Marcia of To Be Continued and hosted by Bob of Beauty in Ruins this month.

I am really excited about the books I got this week.

First up is TransAtlantic by Colum McCann. This book made it to the Man Booker longlist this year, and although it’s not been on my books to read radar, I just couldn’t refuse when it was offered up for review.

The next book, and one I am super-excited about is The Signature of all Things by Elizabeth Gilbert. This is an advanced uncorrected proof, the actual publish date is in October. I just paged through the book, and it’s awesome and I am pretty sure I will love it. I got both these books from Bloomsbury.

The last book, and one that is a bit of a wild card is Spying in High Heels by Gemma Halliday. It’s the first in a series, and is a girlie type of mystery – mixing in fashion, and crime detection together…it seems like it’s in the Stephanie Plum style of books. The Plum series has long gone stale on me, but I am hoping this book will be a pleasant start of many more light n easy reading mysteries for me. This book came to me from Jaico Publishing.

So, what did you get in your mailbox this week? What are you looking forward to reading? Have you read any of the books I received? Any thoughts?

I just finished reading The Signature of all Things and I liked it very much. I loved the character of Alma and at some points, I identified with her too. I liked how the story makes you think- fiction and philosophy both together!

I see new covers on both Transatlantic and The Signature of All Things. I have ARCs of the books. I wasn’t thrilled with Transatlantic and haven’t started The Signature of All Things. I need to get to it.

    Hope you enjoy your books.

@Elizabeth: Oh, too bad Transatlantic didn’t work so well for you. The premise seems interesting. I haven’t read this author before so have to see if the style works for me.

@Sam: Yes, it is gorgeous, isn’t it? I was quite surprised by it. I was expecting a cover just like the one you got. Yours is nice too, btw, just different. Have you started on the book?
