Sunday Drunch at Bar Bar

There is a cool new gastronomic term in town. Brunch is passé now, we all now meet up for a drunch (drinking over lunch). And one of the most happening places to do that is at Bar Bar in Phoenix Marketcity on Whitefield Road.

I always love it when I get invitations to visit Phoenix or VR malls. It’s a great opportunity to club a blog event with my own personal shopping. And that’s what I did last Sunday.

After a little shopping, I went to catch up with friends and fellow food bloggers at Bar Bar.

The Ambiance

Bar Bar is a relatively big and spacious restaurant that oversees the concert area of Phoenix mall, and probably gives the best view of the whole place. Naturally, we seated ourselves at a plum spot and proceeded to eat and drink the afternoon away.

Unlike most bars, which can be dark and musty, there is a good deal of natural light coming into the space. There’s a space for live bands to sing, lot of tables, and my favorite a small reading area with books.

Perfect for people wanting to dine solo or waiting for someone to turn.

Bar Bar is also perfect for sport freaks. They have a foosball and pool table, as well as screens for viewing sports matches live.

The Food

The buffet offered is generous, lavish even. There are a variety of starters – some great breads and lavash with the most delicious dips to accompany them. Then there were the colorful Mediterranean salads. Now, I am not a salad person generally, but I absolutely loved this Mediterranean salad.

If that wasn’t enough veggies for me, I also indulged in grilled vegetables on a stick.

To offset all that healthiness, I helped myself to some beer.

I opted for a beer but there are a number of cocktails and mocktails available (see menu in the photo above). My friend ordered the exotic sounding Red Goddess, and it was pretty good.

There are a variety of options for the main course – a full on multi cuisine buffet, and a live pasta counter. I helped myself to some spicy noodles from the buffet paired with a tofu and vegetable sauce. Greedy me also tried out a couple of pastas from the live counter.

Their dessert offerings are small but extremely good. They had the most delicious chocolate cake.

I helped myself to a bit of everything.
