Three Recipes for Making Dishes that Fight Pain


Painkillers and recipes are usually not two words that we use in the same sentence, but today we are going to do exactly that. The following three recipes have been proven to be effective in fighting pain and unless you know the recipe of how to make morphine at home, these could come in very handy.

Red Grapes and Shrimp with Honey

We are going to make the best of resveratrol in this recipe, which is found inside red grapes and has been proven to be particularly effective against back pain.


4 skewers, 12 large red seedless grapes, 8 peeled and deveined jumbo shrimps, 1/8 cup of honey, ¼ cup of balsamic vinegar, ½ teaspoon of red pepper flakes, ½ teaspoon of salt and one tablespoon of vegetable oil.

How to Make It

Put a skillet on medium heat and mix the honey, the balsamic vinegar and half the salt in it. After about 2 -3 minutes, the entire thing will become thick and should start to bubble. Remove the skillet from the stove and stir the red pepper flakes in.

Use all the four skewers to thread the red grapes and the shrimps alternately in a manner that each skewer has 3 grapes and 2 shrimps on it. This also means that you should start and end with the red grapes while skewing the two.

Take a grill pan large enough to fit the four skewers on it and just apply one teaspoon of oil on it before setting it on medium-high heat. Once the grill pan is hot enough, set the skewers on it and start pouring the remaining oil as necessary on the grapes and the shrimps, while turning them frequently for adequate cooking on all sides. The shrimps should be cooked well in 4 minutes roughly and your dish is now ready to be served with some sauce for delighting the taste buds and relieving some back pain at the same time.

Sautéed Cauliflower with Turmeric

The curcumin in Turmeric has been found to be extremely effective in fighting pain caused by both arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis through NF-kB protein inhibition, and that’s what we are going to take advantage of in this simplistic vegan recipe.


1 small head cauliflower florets, 1 teaspoon of turmeric, some rosemary leaves, freshly ground black pepper, ¼ cup of golden raisins, ¼ cup of toasted pine nuts, 1 teaspoon of smoked Spanish paprika, ¼ cup of extra-virgin olive oil.

How to Make It

Heat the olive oil in a skillet on medium heat and add the cauliflower florets, turmeric and rosemary to it. Stir and cook until the cauliflower is brown.

Add salt and black pepper as necessary, followed by the golden raisins and toasted pine nuts. Stir everything for roughly a minute and your tasty painkiller is all ready to be served after sprinkling some paprika on top.

Chicken Salad with Cherries and Mango

Cherries get their painkilling properties from their anthocyanin content; which is an extremely potent anti-inflammatory, pain-reliever and antioxidant.


2 cups of cubed and cooked chicken, 1 cup of freshly pitted and sliced cherries, 1 small, peeled, pitted and diced ripe mango, ½ cup of chopped roasted pecans,1 and a ½ teaspoon of curry powder, 3 tablespoons of light mayonnaise, ¼ of a diced small red onion, 2 tablespoons of minced cilantro, salt as necessary and freshly ground black pepper.

How to Make It

Choose a large bowl for this one and mix the curry powder and the mayonnaise in it first. Now add the chicken cubes, the mango, the onion, the cilantro and of course, the cherries in it. Add salt and pepper as necessary for the seasoning before sprinkling the pecans. That’s it! Your chicken salad with cherries and mango is now ready.

The truth is that traditional painkillers cannot completely be replaced by any food recipe yet, but certain natural ingredients can help to curb their use significantly to manage minor or medium-grade pain episodes effectively, and that’s exactly what these recipes are meant to do.
