Did you ever finish a series that you totally loved, couldn’t put down, and then BAM! The ending was so awful that it made you hate the whole thing? Like, seriously, what were they thinking? Ugh! Well, sad to say, that was my experience with A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series.
I fell in love with the first two books, but As Good as Dead, which I hope is the last in this series killed all my love.
Before I go into the whys, here’s a short synopsis of the book.
As Good as Dead Synopsis
Pip is about to head to college, but she is still haunted by how her last investigation ended. She’s used to online death threats in the wake of her viral true-crime podcast, but she can’t help noticing an anonymous person who keeps asking her: Who will look for you when you’re the one who disappears?
Soon, the threats escalate, and Pip realizes that someone is following her. When she finds connections between her stalker and a local serial killer caught six years ago, she wonders if maybe the wrong man is behind bars.
Police refuse to act, so Pip has only one choice: find the suspect herself—or be the next victim. As the deadly game plays out, Pip discovers that everything in her small town is coming full circle, and if she doesn’t find the answers, this time, she will be the one who disappears.

My Thoughts
Remember when I said how much I love Pippa Fitz-Amobi (our brave detective), and her adorable boyfriend Rishi?
In this third book, everything I loved about the main characters and the previous books got completely twisted. Pippa, who I thought was a fundamentally decent character, does something crazy and shocking I couldn’t even believe it! She turned herself into a villain, almost. Worse, she acts like we should sympathize with her actions!
And this incident happens in the middle of the book, which ends up screwing up the rest of the book as well. By the time I finished the book, I not only hated it, but it has colored my overall perception of the series.
Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a bad book. It’s well-written and has a good plot, but everything went sideways in such an unexpected way, and my brain just couldn’t compute.
Now, this series, which I was obsessing over, is now as good as dead to me 😭.
