My Valentine’s Day Book/Movie/Show Picks

I don’t know where my head’s been at this year, but I realized it was Valentine’s Day just this morning when hubby and kids wished me. That said, I have been seeing/reading some sweet, romantic stuff that makes for ideal Valentine’s Day entertainment. So sharing a quick list with you all.

Movies/Shows to Watch

  1. Modern Love on Amazon Prime – Shorts about love and connection in its varied forms – romantic, platonic, parental, sexual, familial. Just pick and choose a quick watch to suit your mood. There is something for everyone.
  2. Yeh Jawaani hai Deewani on Netflix – This Bollywood movie will leave Netflix by this month’s end. This is the movie for you if you want to see a contemporary love story with crackling chemistry, lovely music, and beautiful people.
  3. Crash Landing on You on Netflix – This sappy K-drama about love that crosses borders (A north Korean guy gets with a South Korean girl) is perfect if you want a no-holds-barred romance.
  4. Love is Blind on Netflix – If you like reality TV, this is a cool one for Valentine’s week show-watching.
  5. Heartstopper on Netflix – I have recommended this show before. It’s a great Valentine’s week show choice – especially if you are in the mood for LGBTQIA romance.

Books to Read

  1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen – Kickstarting this list with an oldie but goodie. It’s just the perfect romantic read for Valentine’s day.
  2. The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger – If you want a little angst with your romance.
  3. The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate by Gary Chapman – If you want to read something to improve your connection with your partner.
  4. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell – Captures all the intensity, sweetness, and innocence of that first love experience.
  5. The Gift of the Magi by O’Henry – Short story that I read as a teen. It’s probably the sweetest love story I read at the time, and I still remember it very fondly. If you haven’t read it, please do.

What are you reading/watching this Valentine’s week?
