Movies // Dinner // Wedding // Car

After months and years of nothing much happening, life has suddenly become exciting in the past couple of months. Yes, the summer holidays were a bit of a washout, thanks to Snubnose’s boards, but still, overall, there’s been a lot happening.

First, we had guests after a long time, and as part of the shtick of entertaining them, we all got off our lazy asses and did some activities.

Movie(s) and Dinner

This summer has been a great movie release year. First up, we all watched Top Gun: Maverick (so good that I will watch it again). This was an opportunity to enlighten my mom on how 4D movies work. I can tell you she was taken aback when the seats started to move along with the airplanes.

After the movie, we decided to try out the new dining joint in the mall – Jaime’s Pizzeria. This is one of Chef Jamie Oliver’s restaurants. I think it went bankrupt in the UK, but after being bought out, there is a chain of these restaurants in India.

Anyway, I can see why they flopped. Nice pizzas, but nothing extraordinary that other mid-high-end pizzerias don’t offer. Also, quite overpriced. Still, for a mall restaurant (yeah, standards are low), this place is not bad, just a tad bit bland and without personality.

Next week, Piglet, his best friend, and I were back at the mall – this time to see Jurassic World: Dominion. The kids loved the movie (we watched it in 3D), and it was awesome (much better than the dire second movie in the series). Still, I think I have had enough of dinosaurs, and I hope they don’t stretch this series anymore.

The Wedding

This month was the long-awaited wedding of my husband’s niece. She had a long engagement (thanks, Covid!), but now she finally tied the knot. K’s family is pretty small, so it was nice to see that everyone managed to make it to the wedding. It ended up being a big fat fam-bam wedding, and we had a great time catching up with everyone.

New Car

Last but not least, we got a new car! We had sold off our earlier beast of a vehicle – a Toyota Innova, which was hard to navigate through city roads without a driver. And we had stopped using a driver once the pandemic hit because we weren’t going anywhere.

We liked the comfort of the Innova, but the size and maneuverability were an issue. So, we sold that and downsized to a Maruti Suzuki XL6, which is just as comfortable, but easier to drive and has the zippiness of a small car.

Quite an eventful few weeks, huh!
