Sometimes it’s less about the clothing in general and more about one particular item that makes an outfit stand out and become much more than the price tag might assume. If you only have a small amount of money to spend, make sure that the bulk of that money goes on something that you can wear time and again and that goes with pretty much everything else. This might be a ‘little black dress’, a jacket, or perhaps shoes and matching bag. Once you have this item, you can use the rest of your budget on much less expensive things because the star of your wardrobe has already been purchased.

Many people assume they need to go buy something brand new when they have an event or special occasion to dress well for. This can sometimes be true, but don’t do this before checking in your closet to see what you already have.
