Christmas Shopaholic

Sitting at home during quarantine is the ideal time to catch up with pending blog posts – most of them book reviews of books that I read over Christmas and just didn’t get around to blogging about.

One reason a book I read doesn’t get featured on my blog is that there’s very little to say about the book. It may be one in a long-running series, it may be a light thriller or romance, which while enjoyable doesn’t really lend itself to a full-fledged blog review.

Christmas Shopaholic is the former -the first book in the series was an international hit, and the rest merely build on the former. If you loved the first book, then you will like the rest as well.

About the book

Christmas Shopaholic

It’s Christmas time at the Brandons. And this time Becky is hosting. Struggling between meeting everyone’s demands, and a hot former boyfriend whose intentions are suspect, Becky is all atwitter. Will chaos ensue, or will Becky manage to bring comfort and joy to Christmas?

My Review

Some recent books in the Shopaholic series were duds for me. So, I went into this book with fairly low expectations.

This one was pretty good fun though. I love a good festive novel – there needs to be family, friends, love 💖 , food, and happy endings.

I love the Shopaholic books for the story and the great characters in them – the shopping not so much (it’s a bit cringey). But in this book, I loved the shopping – the Christmas shopping was so much fun!

The story was also pretty good – light and frothy, but fun. And the ending was simply too aww inducing 😍. I love how Kinsella is able to retain the romance between Luke and Becky even after so many years.

And I don’t think I will ever get tired of Becky’s shenanigans!

Overall, a fun book to read over Christmas!
