Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This week’s theme is: The Ten Most Recent Additions to My Bookshelf.

I had a bit of a book rush towards the end of last year. I was in a reading slump, and the only way to get out of it, is to buy more books, right? 😀 .

Anyway, here’s a list of books I’ve recently added to my bookshelf.

Newest books on my bookshelf
Newest books on my bookshelf
  1. Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare – This is the last book in The Dark Artifices series. I enjoyed the first two books, and so I think/hope this one will get me out of the current reading slump I am in.
  2. A Perfect Spy by John le Carré – He is an author I love, and A Perfect Spy is considered by many to be his best book. I straight away went and bought this in hardcover, and can’t wait to get into it.
  3. The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton – When this book came out, it really caught my eye, plus it was a Man Booker prize winner. Unfortunately, I never got around to actually reading it. So, last year, I bought myself a fancy copy that is still sitting unread on my bookshelf 🙁 .
  4. Tidelands by Philippa Gregory – I bought this book in the airport to read during the flight. I didn’t like it much, and wouldn’t recommend it. Here’s the review.
  5. Landline by Rainbow Rowell – This was my daughter’s flight read. She loved it very much, and it’s now on my TBR list.
  6. Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi – I read the first book in this series and absolutely loved it. I was offered this sequel for review and I snapped it up ASAP.
  7. Dark Fire by C.J.Sansom – This is the second book in the Matthew Shardlake series and combines two of my favorite genres – historical fiction and mystery. I read the first book in the series, and loved it so much that Dark Fire and the later books are all also on my bookshelf.
  8. Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty – This is the only eBook on my list. I watched the complete mini-series last year, and I was curious to see how the book compared. Turns out the book is even better than the mini-series. Watch out for an upcoming book vs mini-series post on this topic.
  9. Death’s end by Cixin Liu – This is the last book in the sci-fi three body trilogy. I bought it last fall, but haven’t got around to reading it yet. Reviews of the first two books are here and here.
  10. Beartown by Fredrik Backman – I bought this book last fall because I have been hearing great things about Fredrik Backman. I loved this book when I read it, but it hasn’t been particularly memorable. Review coming up soon.

So, these are the latest books on my bookshelf. Some I read, some I have yet to get to. What are the most recent additions on your bookshelf?
