Teaser Tuesdays: The Martian

After the intensity of The Lives of Others, Mark Watney (the protagonist)’s wisecracks in The Martian come as a breath of fresh air. Even though he is stranded all alone on Mars, he retains his sense of humor and how!

At first, this writing style was a bit unexpected, but now I am just racing through these pages and enjoying this book.

Problem is (follow me closely here, the science is pretty complicated), if I cut a hole in the Hab, the air won’t stay inside anymore.

~ The Martian by Andy Weir
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Books and a Beat. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

teasertuesdays31

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

is it very heavy on the sci fi side? its a genre i tend to stay away from but am thinking i should dip my toe in at some point

@disqus_gmoXW9BOB2:disqus not sci-fi as such, but definitely leans towards the science side. It reads very much like a nerdy blog by a scientist.

@BethFishReads:disqus it is a great story, reminds me of all those sci-fi books I used to devour as a kid.
