It’s Literary Giveaway Bloghop Time

literarybloghopYay, it’s blog hop time. I am participating in the literary giveaway bloghop hosted by Judith from Leeswammes’ Blog.

I am a little late prepping my giveaway post. Sorry about that.

Here are the books I am giving away in this blog hop:

The Road by Cormac McCarthy is a book I read a couple years ago and liked very much. It’s a bit grim but beautifully written.

In Custody by Anita Desai is a book I finished today. It’s not a new book, it made it into the Man Booker short list in 1984.

I don’t have a review up, but it’s a lovely humorous tale of a man trying to interview a famous poet. It’s humor makes a pleasant juxtaposition against the grimness of The Road.

Rules of the Giveaway

There are no rules. The giveaway is international. Just fill up the rafflecopter and try your luck.

Thanks for the the giveaway! I’ve been on the fence about reading The Road, but know I’ll read it one of these days.

These are such different books (from what I know of them) — what an intriguing decision you give to the winning reader! Really, these literary blog hops are a special treat for fans of that kind of fiction like me. Thanks so much for giving us this opportunity. Cheers, Kara S

Both these books sound interesting and I need to get a different genre in the between all my romance and historical books.

I read The Road abut four years ago and really enjoyed it but I don’t own a copy. In Custody also sounds like a fun read. Thanks for the giveaway!

I’ve had The Road on my list since the beginning of the year when a friend recommended it

to me. I need to get it!

  12. says: Candiss

I really need to get to The Road. I tried to read it a few years ago, but I couldn’t get into it. I’ve been told many times that if I stick with it I’ll be riveted, so I really want to give it another try.

    Thanks for hosting this!

I was late with my first Literary Blog Hop post two times ago, was accidentally early last time due to a scheduling mistake, and this time I was right on time but somehow disabled comments so no one could enter my giveaway for a while. I may need to give up on participating, but I love the books that people post about for this hop!
I have read several books by Anita Desai, but In Custody doesn’t sound familiar. I have tried The Road and didn’t get into it, but maybe having my own copy would make all the difference!

OK, The Road is on my SHR (Should Have Read) list. In Custody seems like a nice change of pace.

  15. says: Martine

Thanks for hosting this wonderful giveaway! Great choices; I’ve never heard of Anita Desai’s book until your post and it sounds fantastic =D

  22. says: guiltlessreading

I discovered Anita Desai only after I’d read Kiran Desai’s The Inheritance of Loss, and then realized she was Kiran’s mother!

  23. says: Tanya M

I’ve read neither of these. Thanks for the chance to win! Hope you stop by my giveaway as well if you are in the US.

Interviewing a poet could be entertaining…the idea already has me smiling.
