When I read The Giver by Lois Lowry as a teen, I was just blown away by the book. It’s now made into a movie starring Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Katie Holmes, and Brenton Thwaites who plays the role of Jonas – the receiver of all memories.
I read this book a long time ago, and my memory may be faulty but I don’t remember there being this much action in the story, also the world in the movie seems much more futuristic and sci-fi then the book itself. And wasn’t Jonas just a child?
Have you read the book? What do you think of the trailer? I am a bit disappointed by the look of this adaptation 🙁 .
I read “The Giver” for the first time this year and I really liked it. I just watched the trailer in your post and I can see that it’s been “modified” to make it more entertaining for the movies. There seems to be a lot of “action”. I’m not sure if I’ll watch this. Probably. But not likely.
@fiveeyedbookworm:disqus This will be strictly TV watching for me.
Jonas is too old :O He was supposed to be younger. Not very impressed. I loved the book though.
@Avada@ashcerebrations.com I honestly didn’t recognize the book in this trailer. Still, I haven’t lost hope, there is Meryl Streep in it after all, worth watching at least for her.
