The First Literary Giveaway Bloghop of 2014

literarybloghop_februaryYay! It’s literary giveaway bloghop time. This is a giveaway organized by Judith from Leeswammes’ Blog.

This giveaway runs from February 8th to February 12th.

In this giveaway, I have the following books to offer:

  • A Case of Exploding Mangoes – Mohammed Hanif
  • A Tale for the Time Being – Ruth Ozeki

A Case of Exploding Mangoes is Mohammed Hanif’s debut book and is a satirical novel based on the real-life plane crash that killed General Muhammad Zia ul-Haq, former president of Pakistan. It made the Man Booker longlist in 2008. I loved this book and in my opinion, it is good enough to have made the Booker shortlist also.

A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki is more recent. It was shortlisted for the Man Booker last year but lost out to The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton. This is a book that encompasses a range of topics – from Buddhist philosophy, to schoolyard bullying, anti-war thoughts, and Quantum physics. Perfect for a slow, thoughtful read.

Rules of the Giveaway

There are no rules. The giveaway is international.

Leave a comment on my blog letting me know which book you would like to win. I will select two winners using a random number generator on February 13th. After contacting the winners, I will announce the winners on my blog.

Extra points will be awarded to those who choose to follow my blog (use the follow buttons on my sidebar), my twitter, my facebook page, or Pinterest boards but following is not mandatory.
