For A Song of Ice and Fire Fanatics

I’ve read all the books in the A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R.Martin but I still haven’t had enough. While battling sleepless nights (jet lag), I have been madly surfing the web looking for news about the release dates for the next book in the series – The Winds of Winter. Didn’t have any luck nailing down a confirmed date, but boy, did I find some interesting links.

I compiled them into a short list to share with you if you are interested in getting more details about your favorite plot points in the books.

Warning: Watch out for spoilers. I am posting these links for readers who have read ALL the books in the series.

First up, I need to mention this awesome series of character sketches available on The Meereenese Blot. It’s amazing how much research has gone into developing each blog post. Any conclusion is justified by quoting extracts from the book. The blog posts are good, but the interactions in the comments are also awesome. Highly recommend! Start right from the very first blog post and make your way up to the latest post.

More A Song of Ice and Fire essays can be found at The Tower of the Hand. I do think these are older essays though, and quite a few of them do not take A Dance with Dragons into consideration. What these essays are great for is the back-stories of the Targaryen and Stark families.

If essays are too much for you, try out this Flipboard that curates the world of ice and fire. This Flipboard focuses on the TV series mostly, so if you are a fan of the series or the actors in the series, subscribing to this Flipboard is a must.

So now we have got through the serious/semi-serious stuff…let’s head on over to the fluff.

Didn’t get enough of Sandor and Sansa or Jaime and Cersei in the books? Were you heart-broken about a favorite character’s death? Head on over to FanFiction.net or Archive of our own and read alternative storylines of these characters. The stories are mixed in quality. Some are downright terrible while others are surprisingly believable and well-written. If nothing else, it’s entertaining browsing.

And of course, there’s an ocean of Tumblrs out there with wonderful A Song of Ice and Fire art, quotes, and pages devoted to specific characters. Why, even Rickon Stark one of the minor characters has his own fan zine!!!
