Teaser Tuesdays – Gone Girl

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

When I think of my wife, I always think of her head. The shape of it, to begin with. The very first time I saw her, it was the back of the head I saw, and there was something lovely about it, the angles of it. Like a shiny, hard corn kernel or a riverbed fossil. She had what the Victorians would call a finely shaped head. You could imagine the skull quite easily.

I was so excited when I received this book, I immediately opened it and skimmed through it. The first sentence immediately jumped out at me and I decided to share this teaser on my blog today. This beginning creeped me out just a bit and it makes me really want to jump right into this book.

Hope you like it :).
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

I started this one, which grabbed my attention immediately. But sadly I only made it about 40 pages before giving up on it, I just couldn’t get into it. I heard it picks up but I’m not sure I want to go back and waste my time if it doesn’t. I think I’m the only one who didn’t like it lol.

@Catherine: After reading that, I am really looking forward to this one. It’s received mixed reviews. But I think I will enjoy the unreliable narrator story line that people have been telling me about.

Have you got a review of this book?I should look it up once I am done with mine. I have been hesitant to read too many reviews on this one as I don’t want spoilers.
