I felt, that night, on that stage, under that skull, incredibly close to everything in the universe, but also extremely alone.
I wondered, for the first time in my life, if life was worth all the work it took to live.
What exactly made it worth it? What’s so horrible about being dead forever, and not feeling anything, and not even dreaming? What’s so great about feeling and dreaming?
~ Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer
Very touching and moving book but also one of the saddest I ever read 🙁
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

@Tracy Beth: That’s certainly true. Makes us think about things we’d rather not think about 🙂
That’s an intriguing teaser, though a bit sad, too. Not sure if that would be my kind of book…
Here’s my TEASER TUESDAYS post.
@Melissa: That book is incredibly sad, IMO. No real redemption so far as I have seen…a real downer 🙁
A very sad teaser.

This sounds very sad indeed and depressing. Not the type of book I enjoy but if you like this one, you might like HER by Christa Paravani. Here’s ours: http://www.ourstack.blogspot.com/2013/03/tuesday-teasers-love-story-and-memoir.html.
Sometimes it does feel like a lot of work to live. So much truth!
My teaser is here: http://mrscaptkirk51.blogspot.com/2013/03/teaser-tuesday-blood-and-bullets.html
Really like the font they used for this one. Great teaser! I can’t always handle a sad read, I have to not be stressed out when I read it. 🙂
Here’s my TT post.
@Tressa: I too can’t handle this book right now. I am 3/4ths in, I love the book and everything, but I decided to give it a break for a couple of days. It’s just too, too depressing.
Some of those types are really good, but I totally understand that sometimes they’re tough to handle. Sometimes I’ve noticed that some books affect me more than others too and I can get melancholy or more stressed out at home, so I have to be careful since I’ve got little ones. 🙂
