Are you Excited About The Hobbit?

I know I am…I loved the Lord of the Rings trilogy and I can’t wait for Hollywood director Peter Jackson’s adaptation of The Hobbit. The Hobbit is the lesser known but still really good prequel to The Lord of the Rings, and it was the first and still most favorite Fantasy book I read.

So, when I saw these youtube videos of Peter Jackson’s diaries, I loved them and had to share them with you all.

I am so going to be following his video updates until the movie comes out end of next year. What about you? Are you interested in The Hobbit, or are you done with the series?

Thanks for sharing the videos. I’m really looking forward to the movie (Both parts). I agree with Sarah – I found the screentime given to Arwen and Frodo excessive and unnecessary. What I’d really love to watch is a film version of all the parts of The Silmarillion. It would cost a bomb, and most people don’t even know the stories.

I’m not exactly done with the series and not exactly looking forward to it. I’m willing to be induced to look forward to it, but I liked The Hobbit miles less than the LOTR and I am correspondingly less excited about the film. It does have lots of awesome people cast in it, though, and we know Peter Jackson is awesome, and…I don’t know. My feelings are mixed.

  4. I love the casting for The Hobbit- the cream of the UK’s acting pool is involved. That’s made me excited for it. Though seeing so many LOTR characters that were not in the book but on the cast list makes me nervous. I didn’t like some of PJ’s editing in LOTR (he has great love of Frodo and Arwen, and I do not), and I’m still a little peeved he cut out the scouring of the Shire.

I actually do not like The Lord of the Rings at all (I made it through the first two books and the first two movies, but then gave up!), but I am still interested in seeing The Hobbit. I think I’m better able to deal with JRRTolkien (and Peter Jackson) in small doses.

I too love The Hobbit . In fact I prefer it to the LOTR series. But my favorite fantasy remains The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan.

I have long loved the LOTR books and The Hobbit, which I read after LOTR. I am all for more of the crowd.
