Fitness New Year Resolutions

If you are anything like me, then you may have also thought about doing things differently this year – actually achieving some of the goals that you set in the beginning of the year.

For the past couple of years, health and fitness have been pretty high on my new year resolution’s list only to drop by the wayside when work stress and life obligations gets in the way.

This year, I have finally admitted that I need to be more organized about diet and exercise. So, it makes sense that I should track more carefully my food and exercise habits in order to identify and correct them.

One tool that I found while browsing looks like it may be able to help with this.

Fit Day Fitness Log is an online diary that you can use to log in your daily food intake and your exercise routine. It then reveals your calorie intake and calories burned for that day. Nice huh !

Unfortunately, most of the food that we consume does not come with strict calorific values. For example, you eat a biryani – how do we know how many calories are in that ? To help with this issue, I found another site called Calorie Count, which includes even Indian foods. You only get a rough estimate, but hey something is better than nothing right ?

Anyways, after logging in all my details for today (not including dinner), these are the results :

My Diet Graph for the Day

Kind of shocking, because I thought I hadn’t eaten much at all today. However, the carbs were way too high and the protein was very low. Kind of expected, I suppose, since I am a south-indian veggie whose daily routine involves eating mainly rice. Something, I should think about changing soon 🙁

How did I find this tool? I dunno, it is not the most user-friendly thing out there. And I am pretty sure, the constant calorie-counting will get too boring for me. I will probably just try it out for a month or so, to see what my eating and exercise patterns are, but I doubt I will use it too much after that.

But for serious calorie counters, this might be a tool that may just help you meet your health goals … I would definitely recommend giving it at least one shot.
