TTT: Ten Books I Meant To Read In 2017 But Didn’t Get To

by

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the wonderful The Broke and The Bookish. This week is the last week that Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and The Bookish and I just want to thank them for hosting for so long. It really is a commitment and I’ll always be grateful to them for introducing me to so many blogs and in turn, so many books. Thank you ladies!

This post is quite difficult for me because 2017 was such a poor reading year. The pile of books that I meant to read but didn’t quite get to looks in danger of toppling over. Still, I”ll try to include only the books that I really, really meant to read, but never quite got around to.

Hopefully, that will also act as a reminder to get to them at least in 2018!

My Favorite Books of 2017

by

Looking back at 2017, it wasn’t a good reading year. After a disappointing run with books accepted for review, I decided to stick to my own reads and preferences hoping to get my reading mojo going again.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be. I could keep up with reading with one kid and a baby, but with two school-going kids, and a full-time job, I have realized that reading is going to have to be on the backburner – behind homework, school projects, extra classes, office work, and numerous other things that just have to get done.

Still I did have some reading highlights that I want to share with you.

Sharp Objects

I’ve read Gone Girl, so when I went into this book, I knew what to expect – seriously evil characters, and a dark, twisty plot.

I also knew that this was Gillian Flynn’s first book, and I went into it expecting some flaws, and blunt edges. In both areas, this book worked for me as expected.

Two Movies and a Makeover

by

Last weekend was an epic movie watching weekend. Gone Girl premiered on Star Movies on July 25th, and it's one I've long been wanting to see. I was so super-efficient that evening, wrapped up dinner, put both the kids to sleep, and then settled down on the sofa to peaceably watch it on the telly. ...

Ten Best Books of the Last Three Years

by

Today, the bloggers at The Broke and the Bookish have asked us to list the ten books that we’d class as our all time favorite books within the last 3-5 years. This could be pretty hard, or extremely easy, let’s see.

Turned out, it was easier than I thought. While scanning my reading list page where I jot down all the books I’ve read, certain books just leaped out at me, those books that were so so good that I just couldn’t put them down, that I remember even after quite some time has passed.

Ten Authors I’ve Only Read One Book Of and Need to Read More

by

Today, the bloggers at The Broke and the Bookish have asked us to list ten authors that I’ve only read one book from but need to read more. It happens to me all the time, I read a book by an author, love it so much that I look up all books written by ...
