Sizzler Bites Fest at District 6

by

If you live in north or central Bangalore, District 6 is the place I recommend for a chill hang-out session with friends over a beer, or two, or many.

Even if you live in other parts of Bangalore, hoofing it to District 6 is not at all a bother as the place is situated within a 2-min walk from a Metro station (Sandal Soap Factory) on the North-South line.

Our gang went there for a relaxed Sunday afternoon to catch up over drinks and their limited time only sizzler menu.

The Irish House

by

K and I went for drinks and dinner with friends last Friday night.

Usually, we don’t go out alone together as one of us has to stay home with the kids, but this time, it was my birthday weekend, and so both of us decided to make a night of it.

We hadn’t planned where to go, but when an invite dropped into our inbox inviting us to the newly opened Irish House resto-bar in RMZ EcoWorld, it sounded fun, and it was close by to our place (a huge consideration when we accept blog invites).

So we went, and we ended up having a total blast.

Johnny Rockets

by

Virginia Mall in Whitefield is finally starting to emerge as a bright new hotspot for people from that side of the city. With its focus on family friendly activities, and food joints, it’s the ultimate place to hang out in Whitefield.

Now, the latest addition to Virginia Mall is an outlet of Johnny Rockets – the 50s style diner chain serving up the most delicious Burgers, shakes, and fries.

Snubnose and I visited the mall last weekend for lunch followed by a game of bowling at the arcade.

Mother’s Day at Barbeque Nation

by

The sweetie pies at Barbeque Nation surprised me last weekend with an invite to a lunch. This was a part of a general event across all their outlets to celebrate and appreciate moms.

The PR person who sent me the invite didn’t mention any particular theme in the email. It was one of those standard PR invites with the date and time and request to be there, and blog about it later.

So, I was really taken by surprise by the very special welcome and the pampering that followed.

An Art and Alcohol Fueled Weekend

by

Last weekend was one hectic action-packed one. I was booked in for a blog event, Snubnose was committed to take part in a mural painting event that was from dawn to dusk on both days of the event. Well, just kidding on the dawn to dusk part, but you get the idea, she was going to be occupied outdoors on two blisteringly hot days. I would need to be on hand to make sure she’s properly fed and hydrated, and be on hand to bring her back home if she gets too tired and hot (she’s prone to migraines in the heat).

Rather serendipitously, the blog event at Big Pitcher was a stone’s throw away from the park where she was painting. So, we all agreed that on Saturday, we could drop her off at the park, hang around with her till lunch time, and then K, Piglet, and I would spend a couple of hours at Big Pitcher and then join Snubnose at the park.

A Toony Brunch with Nickelodeon and JW Marriott

by

JW Marriott does a regular Sunday brunch at their property on Vittal Mallya Road in Bangalore, and it’s quite a nice brunch. However, last weekend, the brunch was a tad extra-special thanks to the intervention of Nickelodeon.

Nickelodeon India – the TV channel that has spawned the likes of Motu Patlu, Pakdam Pakdai, and Shiva organizes plenty of live events across India giving kids the opportunity to mingle with their favorite cartoon characters and generally have fun with Nickelodeon outside of the house as well.

Last weekend, Nickelodeon partnered with JW Marriott for their Sunday brunch, and we just couldn’t resist the opportunity to have a go-see. We have attended past Nick events with my daughter Snubnose, but this was Piglet’s first time, and he was super-excited when I mentioned all his favorite cartoon characters would be there to meet him.

Sunday Lunch at The Whitefield Arms

by

Last weekend, Soumya a blogger buddy invited me to lunch at The Whitefield Arms in VR Bengaluru on Whitefield Road.

I have seen this place several times when I visited the mall, but never actually ventured in. I am usually accompanied by my kids, and I didn’t think it was a kid-friendly place.

But last Sunday was relatively free, and so I fed the kids some lunch, strictly instructed them to play with each other, no fighting, and then trotted over to VR Bengaluru to get some once in a blue moon kid-free time with friends.

Fabelle Chocolates – one of the most celebrated luxury chocolate brands in the country, launched its latest gourmet chocolate boutique in the city at ITC Windsor.

As part of the launch activity, the folks from ITC Windsor arranged an elegant musical soiree, which was paired with the most sumptuous dessert plates – four courses of pre-plated creations, made from single-origin chocolate sourced from Venezuela, Ghana, Ecuador and Madagascar.
