The Wife Between Us: A Gripping Tale of Secrets

The Wife Between us is one of those rare thrillers that completely surprised and blinded me.

The Wife Between us book review

When you read this book, you’ll make many assumptions.
You’ll assume you’re reading about a jealous ex-wife.
You’ll assume she is obsessed with her replacement – a beautiful, younger woman about to marry the man they both love.
You’ll assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle.
Assume nothing.

My Review

I thought this book would be like another rehash of The Woman in the Window, The Girl on the Train, or some such book.

And yes, there are many areas of similarity, but at the same time, it was also quite different.

Even with the book blurb promising multiple twists (Assume nothing – it warns), I was constantly surprised and sometimes shaken by the number of curve balls the authors threw at me.

The Wife Between Us is a difficult book to review because I don’t want to give away details and spoil the plot. Believe me; this is a completely unpredictable story. I strongly recommend you go into the book knowing as little as possible so it won’t be ruined; then, you can be completely blown away by this enthralling, clever, insane read, just like I was!

The only tidbit I want to reveal is that the first two portions of the book confused me quite a bit. The book is narrated by two women – the ex-wife and the mistress. However, both women have the same voice and very similar personalities, so it took me some time to understand who narrated the story. This added to the sense of confusion and uncertainty in the novel.

But because the beginning was so confusing, I was tempted to put down the book multiple times as it was taxing my brain a bit too much. I am glad I persevered, though, because the ending made it all worth it.

The final part of the book clears things up nicely, and all loose ends are tied up neatly, with a couple of twists that I never saw coming.

Overall, a tense and exciting book that I can recommend after a long time of reading wimpy thrillers. Have you read this book? Did you like it?

Hmm, I too had this pegged as another “Gone Girl” (which I quite liked) or “Girl on the Train” (which I thought was meh) knockoff, but now I’m intrigued …

It’s very like both these books, but also different in some interesting ways.

This sounds like a good summer read. My list has grown dull so I need something new and this one sounds nice 🙂

Thanks for sharing a review of this book. I’m a book fan but only read books that are recommended from someone who read them. And you’ve shared enough information but luckily not too much. I’m very sensitive about spoilers 🙂

This is one I haven’t heard of before. I don’t usually read thrillers, but being in a book club with some friends has made me expand the type of books I read so I may try to pick this one up.

I always enjoy reading a book where there are so many twists. It can be a little frustrating to read books with a lot of twist sometime but just like you said, the ending will be worth it. I definitely need to check out this book. thanks for sharing
