Since many people go vegan as a New Year’s resolution, vegan organizations have taken notice and are providing extra help and support at the beginning of the year. If you’re planning on giving veganism a go this January, read on for some top tips to help you make it a success.

Tip #1. Practice Some Easy Vegan Dishes

If you’re not used to cooking vegan food, then coming up with dishes off the top of your head can be trickier than you first realized. To make it easier for you to stay on track and prevent yourself from slipping up, it’s a good idea to have at least three meal ideas that are simple to make for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For example, simple ideas such as oatmeal for breakfast, salads for lunch and pasta for dinner are easy to prepare when you’ve not got much time but don’t want to sway from your new lifestyle choice. Tip #2. Do Your Research

Today, the good news for vegans is that since this way of life is becoming more and more popular, there are many restaurants who now cater for a vegan diet. So, during Veganuary, and later if you decide to continue following a vegan diet, there’s no need to give up your favorite activities such as going out to eat with family or friends. Before you start, it’s a good idea to take some time to search restaurants in your area that provide a vegan menu, or if you’re lucky, you may be able to find an all-vegan eatery nearby.

Tip #3. Find Substitutes You Enjoy

For many people who decide to go vegan, it’s not giving up meat that bothers them the most – it’s giving up animal products such as milk and cheese that they find the most difficult. However, the good news is that there are several amazing substitutes available, so all you need to do is try a few to find out which ones work best for you. For example, instead of cow’s milk, you can choose from a huge selection of nut milk such as coconut or almond milk, rice milk, or oat milk, which are all hugely popular dairy substitutes. Try both sweetened and unsweetened options to see which you prefer.

Tip #4. Take Advantage of Resources

With more and more people deciding to go vegan as a New Year’s resolution, there are always plenty of resources available to help you out during Veganuary. For example, you can find the Veganuary Facebook page which is filled with recipes, tips, and ideas, whilst organizations such as PETA are always providing resources and support year-round to encourage more people to go vegan.
