The Irish House

K and I went for drinks and dinner with friends last Friday night.

Usually, we don’t go out alone together as one of us has to stay home with the kids, but this time, it was my birthday weekend, and so both of us decided to make a night of it.

We hadn’t planned where to go, but when an invite dropped into our inbox inviting us to the newly opened Irish House resto-bar in RMZ EcoWorld, it sounded fun, and it was close by to our place (a huge consideration when we accept blog invites).

So we went, and we ended up having a total blast.

The drinks were good. The service was on the slow side, but since first round of drinks and starters came pretty quickly, we weren’t too bothered by the later delays.

I ordered the Twisted Old-fashioned, which was a pleasing, slightly smoky combo of Bourbon, espresso, thyme, and butters.

K ordered the Irish Trash Can – an explosive combo of vodka, gin, run, triple sec, and peach extract, over which a Red Bull can was upturned (see photo below).

Although the Irish Trash Can seemed like a potent combo, I actually ended up really liking it (and I am generally not a fan of vodka or gin). I also tried a few sips of my friend’s drink, Gingered Screwdriver – a twist on the vodka and orange juice mix (see photo above), and that’s pretty good too. You will like it if you are a vodka fan.

The food that accompanied it was of the regular bar order type. The burger and onion rings combo was my personal favorite.

The tacos and the cheesy fries were good too, but since we were dancing too, we ate them a little late and they were pretty soggy by then. Still, I’d recommend the onion rings over these dishes.

The best part about the place though is the amazing music and the decor. The music was a perfect blend of 80-90s popular tracks remixed, and today’s hot favorites, and even though there was no dance floor in the place, everyone was up and rocking.
