Anniversary Celebrations

The kids always expect something big for our wedding anniversary celebrations, and it’s usually pretty easy to deliver as our anniversary is just one day before Children’s Day in India. So, there’s always something to do.

We opted to do the Sunday brunch at Limelight in Royal Orchid Hotel off Airport Road this year.

The Sunday brunch is a hot favorite among kids because of a giant bouncy castle, a trampoline, an arts and crafts center, and other stuff that entertain and occupy the kids. The littles get to have a bite or two in between all the fun. It’s also great because the buffet though pricey, is free for kids eight and younger, and the staff is pretty generous in extending that to any kid that passes muster. For example, Snubnose is ten, turning 11, and still, the team insisted that it was perfectly fine and that she was eligible for the free brunch.

We have been to their Sunday brunches before (blogged about it here and here), and though the kids enjoy it very much, I have often complained about the stink from the terrible gutter nearby and the passable food and drinks.

However, this time, the food was fantastic, and so were the drinks. The trick I found is to ignore the regular buffet and fill up your plate with food from the live counters. As for the drinks, it helps if you stand by and give detailed instructions.

So, yes, this time both kids and adults were happy :). Here are some photos of the fun we had (not too many as I was distracted watching the kids and doing justice to the excellent food).

I can never stop admiring the lovely red-brick walls covered with ivy. Though the place is pretty new, I love how the ivy gives it a vintage and old-world charm.

And here come photos of some of the food we had.

K loved his chicken biryani and whisky cocktail.

And I loved the spaghetti.

The white sauce pasta was good and predictably cheesy. Snubnose lapped every bit of it.

We also ordered two thin-slice pizzas, one with chicken and one with veggies, and they were so good that we just inhaled it all in. Just as the last mouthful went in, I realized I had forgotten to take any snaps of them.

We went easy on the desserts – already stuffed from the enormous quantities of food we had consumed. My sweet-toothed father-in-law did succumb to a cupcake, though.

The desserts, in general, are okay. They have a vast number of desserts – both western and Indian options. But, I have yet to find that one item that makes my heart sing. Quality always trumps quantity for me. I’d rather have one excellent dessert than a plateful of okay options, so I sat out the dessert.

After food, the kids went to burn more calories on the slides, the bouncy castle, and the trampolines. I thought they would both be exhausted by the end of it all, and I was looking forward to a nice post-lunch snooze at home. Still, all that excitement just translated into tons of energy, and they were bouncing around the house till late in the evening while I looked on, partly exhausted and partly envious of all that energy.

Overall, a great time at Limelight, as usual.

Happy anniversary! Sounds like the perfect place to celebrate, and the kids looked liked they had a lot of fun. I’m with you, I get dessert only when there is something that really calls to me.
