Teaser Tuesdays: The Martian

After the intensity of The Lives of Others, Mark Watney (the protagonist)’s wisecracks in The Martian come as a breath of fresh air. Even though he is stranded all alone on Mars, he retains his sense of humor and how!

At first, this writing style was a bit unexpected, but now I am just racing through these pages and enjoying this book.

Problem is (follow me closely here, the science is pretty complicated), if I cut a hole in the Hab, the air won’t stay inside anymore.

~ The Martian by Andy Weir
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Books and a Beat. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Pretty cool meme! I loved the movie and finally got my hands on the book. Can’t wait to read it! 🙂

    • Nishita

@KatyRochelle:disqus I can’t wait to watch the movie!

  • Is this the one on which the famous Movie is based? If so, i have to watch the movie at least 🙂

    • Nishita

@SinghalAlok:disqus This is the one, Alok. The book is nice, now I too need to catch up on the movie :).

  • Karen

is it very heavy on the sci fi side? its a genre i tend to stay away from but am thinking i should dip my toe in at some point

    • Nishita

@disqus_gmoXW9BOB2:disqus not sci-fi as such, but definitely leans towards the science side. It reads very much like a nerdy blog by a scientist.

  • The Martian is so so good. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did :).

    • Nishita

      @HariniKarnamadakala:disqus loving it 😀

  • natasha stander

I want to read this book so badly!

    • Nishita

      @natashastander:disqus do! It’s a fun, light-hearted read.

  • Jessica Manning
  • Avada@bookishmuggle.com

One of my most favorite books of all time. 🙂

    • Nishita

@Avada@bookishmuggle.com about halfway through and it’s getting better with each page 🙂

  • BethFishReads

Ha!! I’m probably not going to read it, but everyone says it’s a great story.

    • Nishita

@BethFishReads:disqus it is a great story, reminds me of all those sci-fi books I used to devour as a kid.

  • I have been wanting to read this book for a while but want to lower TBR mountain before I add anything else to it. My teaser this week comes from Dragon’s
Fire by Anne McCaffrey and Todd McCaffrey
    . I’m trying to
finish this series by reading the books I missed when they were new.
    Happy reading!
