Mailbox Mondays: YA and Yoga

Welcome to Mailbox Monday, a meme started by Marcia of To Be Continued.

Last week I got a pleasant surprise from Bloomsbury Publishing when I received a lovely package in the mail with these two YA books.

The first book is Fuzzy Mud by Louis Sachar. His most famous book – Holes is only one of my all-time favorite books. I love his wit and quirkiness, and I can’t wait to wade into some Fuzzy Mud.

The second book I got is Concentr8 by William Sutcliffe. This book is set in London and seems to be a fast-faced and pacey thriller about five angry east-London kids who cause a media frenzy. I don’t know much more than that but it sounds extremely interesting.

Last but not the least is Body Goddess by Payal Gidwani Tiwari, which talks about how yoga can help rescue your body from various health issues.

I did a quick browse through and here’s what I think.

There’s a lot of theoretical information about yoga along with some demo of poses. What I found most useful though are the sets of packaged workouts for different ailments such as stress, obesity, migraines, and so on.

I think this will be a really useful read, and I am looking forward to trying out the recommended yoga postures for weight loss. Let’s see how it goes. The author is a well-known fitness guru and I like how this book talks about health and fitness from a holistic perspective rather than just focusing on weight-loss.

This book came to me from Penguin Random House.

Have you read these books? What do you think of them? What books did you receive last week? What are you looking forward to reading?

I never realised that Louis Sachar had written another book, although I wasn’t a huge fan of Holes I could understand why it was so popular.

@disqus_mUBrEiIQ5D:disqus He’s written quite a few actually, but Holes is the only one I’ve read. I loved it, and am looking forward to reading this one as well. Unfortunately Snubnose has hijacked it for now, so not sure when I”ll actually be able to get to it.
