Mailbox Mondays: Books! Books! Books!

Welcome to Mailbox Monday, a meme started by Marcia of To Be Continued.

Last week I received a bunch of books that promise some fun light summer reading, and which I am pretty excited about.

First up is Shopaholic to the Stars by Sophie Kinsella. It’s one of my favorite light-reading series, and it’s been ages since I read Kinsella’s books, and I am really looking forward to this latest installment in the series.

I accepted How to Seduce a Billionaire by Portia da Costa without knowing anything what it was about. I kind of assumed it to be a romance, chick-lit kind of novel. I was pretty dismayed when I saw the grey cover. Nothing could say more strongly that it’s one of those Fifty Shades of Grey wannabe books and since I am not a fan, I am not really all that gung-ho about it, let’s hope it’s better written and with a little more of a story than Fifty Shades of Grey.

Both these books came to me from Penguin Random House.

I eagerly accepted The Murder of Sonia Raikkonen by Salil Desai after enjoying his previous outing. More than the actual thrills aspect, I had liked the two detectives very much and I am looking forward to reading this next book in the series.

My Clingy Girlfriend by Madhuri Banerjee is one of those light-hearted books that is about, you guessed it, a guy and his clingy girlfriend. The blurb at the back of the book is drop-dead funny and I hope the rest of the book is the same.

The last book I feature is The Chaos Within by Ashima Chalia. It’s about a group of friends attending a college reunion. I don’t know much else about the book, it sounds like there is a thriller aspect to it, but the blurb doesn’t reveal much. This book came to me from Rupa Publications – which is of late churning out some really interesting books.

So, I am super looking forward to all these books, and you can expect to see them heavily featured on my blog the whole of April.

What books did you get last week? Which ones are you looking forward to reading? Have you read any of the books I’ve featured? What were your thoughts on it/them?

  1. Hope you enjoy the books! I haven’t gone back to the Shopaholic series after Book 3, because they were getting a bit repetitive for me, but I love Kinsella’s standalone books quite a lot!

I listened to Shopaholic to the Stars and thought it lacked some of the magic of the earlier books. I hope it’s better in print!

@bermudaonion_kathy:disqus It’s actually not that good. Pretty annoying, in fact 🙁

You are certainly going t be busy with that lot. Did you request them or did they come on spec? I’m no sure how this review copy thing works

@disqus_gmoXW9BOB2:disqus I don’t know how it is elsewhere, here the publishers approach bloggers with a book list selection every month. We can choose a couple of books and feature them on the blog.
