I’ve barely made a dent in the books I got in my previous mailbox before I got my second lot of books.
Frankly, the TBR list has become slightly overwhelming. The breakneck pace of things in real life has ensured that I’ve barely been able to open a book for the past couple of months. However, I still find myself unable to say no when interesting books hover upon the horizon.
From Rupa Publications, I accepted The Night It Rained Guns – Unraveling the Purulia Arms Drop Conspiracy. This is a non-fiction by Chandan Nandy who has been an investigative reporter for The Telegraph and The Hindustan Times. I don’t know how many people remember this incident now, but I remember reading about it in the papers and thinking it was the most bizarre very spy-novel like incident.
For those who don’t know, sometime back in 1995 , a Latvian aircraft dropped a bunch of guns and ammunition in the remote village of Purulia in India. There was a lot of speculation and accusations flying around at the time, but unfortunately I was busily involved with all my college activities and so after the initial brouhaha, I never actually knew what happened. More information about the incident here. I am looking forward to fixing that gap now.
I also received Games Girls Play from Rupa Publications. Written by Aastha Atray Banan, it is I think a light chick-lit book about the friendship between two girls – Siya and Natasha. However, the cover is a quite intriguing and gives me the impression that the book may be a bit darker (hopefully) than the title and the blurb seem to convey.
The last book I received is Equilibrium by Paras Joshi. This is the first book in the Avaasya trilogy and seems like a good YA Fantasy novel. Most Indian Fantasy that I have read has disappointed, so I hope this one will break that jinx.

I only received ONE book, but it is a Louise Penny book. I enjoy her books.

My Mailbox Monday
I have waaaaaaaay too many books right now, and they just keep coming. The problem is that it’s Christmas and I’m trying to stealthily read all the book gifts I’m giving people before real Christmas arrives. So I have A LOT of books to read very very fast. And a lot of them are nonfiction.
I love the cover on Equilibrium – even though I don’t read a lot of fantasy, it made me take a closer look.
I agree with your opinion on the cover of the GAMES GIRLS PLAY. This week I received M FOR MISFIT by Sarika Pandit (of Buckelist of a Traveloholic fame) sent by the author. And also LETTERS FROM AN INDIAN SUMMER.
