Trailer for The Great Gatsby is Finally Here

It’s a bit too Moulin Rouge-esque for my liking, and Leonardo diCaprio does not look as hot as Robert Redford in the original. But, whoa, I still like what I see here.

Also for us Indians, there are a few glimpses of Amitabh Bachchan playing the role of Mayor Wolfsheim. I think he suits the role to a T. What do you think?

Do you plan to watch this movie in 2-D or 3-D?

  1. saw the trailer just now and I would love to see the movie….I has started out with the book but left it in between so didn’t exactly get a chance to read it!!! loved the visuals of the movie.

@Swati: The book is awesome…when you have the time do try to read it. And I agree with you about Leo…not looking as good as he usually does.

  2. I have to say, I would probably be happy if every movie were just like Moulin Rouge, so that doesn’t bother me a bit! 😉

The thing is, that although I think the trailer is visually stunning and really evocative, the thing I loved about TGG was the writing. Fitzgerald’s words were what moved me, so even though I thought this trailer was pretty, it didn’t exactly convince me that I want to see this film.

@Steph: I loved Moulin Rouge as well, it was lovely. But, I don’t think every story needs the same treatment, certainly not TGG…

I generally love movies in which Leo performs and so I think this should be good as well. I just hope they capture the spirit and emotion of the book. I don’t think they got the “look” or maybe the look wasn’t how I imagined it all in my mind.

Also, just like @Swati says…something off with Leo’s look in the movie. He looks a little too rough, a little too modern.

Any movie of Carpio I have seen has not disappointed me. And I really like him a LOT. Inception was amazing! I am sure we will see this movie 🙂 2D definitely, I do not like 3D 🙁

I really need to read this book tough 🙂
