Every year Strand Book Store holds a beyond awesome sale. The range of books (particularly children’s books) is terrific and the prices are so good, it’s really, really hard for us to restrain ourselves.
Last weekend, we went on the last day of the sale hoping against hope that some good stuff was still remaining. And we got lucky! Although there wasn’t much left for adults, there was still tons of new children’s books being stocked and restocked.
Here are some of our most exciting finds…
Apart from the snubnose’s regular fictional interests – Barbie, Spot, Strawberry Shortcake, and so on…I was able to steer her interests in new directions.
One of the books that we are both eager to read is about ancient Egypt.
I was in awe over the beautiful illustrations and the depth of the information. The snubnose loved the bright colors.
And guess what, this book cost about Rs.70/- only on sale (approx 1.5 dollars USD). Isn’t that a great deal?
From grade 1 onwards, the snubnose starts Spanish, so I was super-thrilled to find a simple but fun Spanish book to introduce her to basic Spanish words.
And then on to natural sciences with a simple book about sharks
And an encyclopaedia for the snubnose to learn to use as she enters grade school…
Hopefully we have enough stuff on hand to keep the snubnose entertained and away from television/video games till regular school starts again in June.
I kind of doubt it though…she’s already run through about 5 books in the space of 3 days
