A Weekend of Wild Partying

…actually not really.

Last weekend, the snubnose was invited to 2 happening birthday parties and of course being her mom, I got to share in the fun too ;). Both parties rocked, but the first one (a themed party) was truly memorable. Hats off to the awesome hostess who managed to pull off a unique and memorable event without being too expensive or show-offy.

The theme of the party was Pirates of the Caribbean and it was such a fun theme to choose. Thankfully, it was not fancy dress, so nobody had to stress over the costumes. All the kids had to wear a white top and blue jeans, and the rest was arranged for at the venue.

The party started off with the accessories that our wonderful hostess provided for all the kids – a skull bandana, an eye patch, skull tattoos, and a very imaginatively made Captain Hook hooked hand.

I was pleasantly surprised (happy actually) to see the normally ladylike and dainty snubnose letting loose with the guns and totally holding her own against attacks from various quarters. That was of course until she got a glimpse of herself in the mirror and realized the black streaks below her eyes were dirty and that she is not looking pretty. Totally went into full pout mode until I brought her home and wiped off the black streaks.

Btw, the t-shirt she is wearing in the above photos has been hand-painted by the snubnose herself. You think she did a good job? She loooves to paint…

Of course, no party is complete without a cake, and this one was truly awesome. Not only was it magnificent, it managed to survive for more than a hour from over-enthusiastic kids who were breathlessly waiting for the cake cutting to finish. So was I actually, and the cake was totally worth the wait :).

What an Awesome Cake! It tasted even better than it looked!
