I Love Indiblogger Forums!

Recently, I signed up with Indiblogger (an online blogging community for Indian bloggers). Once signed up, I was pretty clueless as to what to do until I saw this fab forum where you can submit your blog, and other bloggers provide you with useful tips on how to improve your blog.

Well, I submitted my blog, and got back some really useful feedback, which I am summarizing here for the benefit of others as well…

  • There are too many widgets that are cluttering up the page. I love widgets, and I love adding them on my page. But without realizing it, I think I was doing “the more the merrier” with them, without realizing that some readers found them really annoying, and they were probably slowing down page loads. I took this advice to heart, and with great difficulty have removed 4 widgets out of my blog 🙁
  • The signature at the end of the posts was also not giving a very good impression. The general consensus was to add the signature on the About Me page, and stop using it in my general posts. This one makes sense too, and I am going to (and this time I really mean it 🙂 ) stop using signatures
  • Remove the Feedjit widget. I used to have this widget that tracks people who come on to my page and displays the information. However, it could also be seen as an invasion of people’s privacy.
  • I also received a comment on unnecessarily having a Digg and a Share button at the bottom of my posts. I agree that it is a bit of a duplication, but I am going to keep it for now, as I am starting to get a fair amount of traffic through Digg.

I am very happy to receive positive feedback on the content and the layout :).

Apart from this, the great thing about this experience is also meeting new people from the blogosphere who were so kind as to stop, review my blog, and provide feedback.

A huge thanks to:

  • Aziz
  • Anand
  • Paritosh
  • And last but not the least, Archana for not just providing great feedback, but also for subscribing to my blog 🙂

It has been a truly eye-opening experience to be a part of Indiblogger and see so many great blogs that would otherwise be missed in this ocean that is the internet. I highly recommend this experience!

Btw, if anyone does have any feedback to share on my blog, I would love to hear about it. You don’t have to be an Indiblogger, just comment on it here!

oho… so much love for just being subscriber!!! I was also a commentator!!! 😛

Yes, Indiblogger is good network to find so many readers for your blog. And if you keep interacting more, I guess you get more online pals too. Thanks for this post. I keep forgetting to check out Indiblogger, though I registered long back 🙂

Yes, I am starting to make more online friends now. Earlier, I used to blog but did not really network too much. So, mostly it was only me and my friends reading my blog posts.

Being a part of different blogging communities makes such a difference 🙂

    Oh, yes Indiblogger is fun!
Yeah, you’d get your IndiRank as soon as they’d update, the next time. I have seen it happening once in 2 months!

“Btw, would you like to exchange links with my blog?”…I didnt get it!
Does this mean blogrolling each other on our respective blogs!!?? Lemme know. I’d love to do that!! 🙂

Oh, yes Indiblogger is a very good Community!

Apart from Forum, where you can ask/share anything under the sun re: blogosphere; there’s this IndiVine, which you must explore.

After a while, you’ll also have a Ranking (out of 100) for your blog at IndiRank!

And then there are contests too!

    Cheers and welcome aboard! 🙂

Wow! That’s a nice set of advices out there! I am planning to pick up a few for my own blog 😉
I have also subscribed to this forum, but haven’t really used its features. After reading this post of yours, I am definitely going to give it a try!

Am glad you found it useful, I just wanted to share what I experienced 🙂 …those forums are great to help you identify what others think when they visit your blog. Sometimes, you think you are doing great, only to realize your point is not getting across to the reader that well!
